About Dr. Lytle
A.J. Lytle, DDS, grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, where he developed an enduring interest in the life sciences and a passion for working with his hands—a combination that led Dr. Lytle to pursue a career in dentistry. Keeping with the long tradition of military service in his family, he joined the United States Army after dental school. His first assignment was a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program where he worked within all of the dental specialties. It was on his oral surgery rotations in this program where he saw first-hand the blend between medicine and dentistry and the significant impact that he could make as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. After serving four years as a general dentist, to include a tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom, he completed his surgical training. Dr. Lytle then served as the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, CA, as well as at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, GA. After 12 years of service, 4 states, and many wonderful memories, he and his wife decided to move to West Michigan to raise their son and daughter near family and friends, and become a member of the Grand Rapids community. He separated from the Army receiving an Honorable Discharge having earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Lytle is very proud of his service and looks forward to becoming involved with local veterans’ organizations.
Dr. Lytle is excited to return to his home state where he can provide safe, efficient, and quality care to all of his patients. His philosophy is quite simple: treat patients the way he would wish to be treated, which inevitably results in the best experience possible.
