Please refer to the general oral surgery instructions for general post-operative instructions that are applicable to all oral surgeries.

Sinus Precautions:

Do NOT blow your nose, smoke, suck on a straw, or build up pressure in your nose for 3 weeks.

DO open your mouth if you have to sneeze and let the pressure of the sneeze escape through your mouth for the next 3 weeks.

Oral Hygiene:

Please keep the surgical site clean. Avoid brushing the area for 3–4 days. Brush your other teeth as normal. After 3–4 days, you may begin brushing the site gently. After 2 weeks, you should resume normal brushing of the site to keep it as clean as possible.

Diet:

Do not chew on the affected site for 2–3 weeks. Please adhere to a soft diet (eggs, pasta, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, fish, etc.).

Medication:

Please take the prescribed antibiotics until finished. If you develop a reaction to them, please stop them and notify the office immediately. If prescribed a nasal decongestant, please use the medication as directed. If you feel like you need to clear your nose, it is okay to use a saline (salt water) nasal spray gently. Your surgeon will prescribe a pain medication regimen that is customized to the procedure that you had; please follow it accordingly.
