About Dr. Panah

Calvin G. Panah, DDS, is a highly skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon, committed to treating every patient like he would his own family. Through his calm, comforting, and confident demeanor, he finds great joy in restoring health and confidence to his patients.

As a father of four, Dr. Panah knows from personal experience the feeling of trusting his children to a surgeon. Whenever a patient walks through the door, he wants them to know that their safety, comfort, and success are his top priorities. Whether praying daily for his patients or reaching out after procedures to check in, he finds great joy in seeing his patients thrive and have an incredible oral surgery experience.

He brings robust experience across the scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including wisdom teeth extractions, other extractions, advanced dental implant placement, grafting procedures, management of oral pathology, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma surgery, and administration of anesthesia.

Education

Dr. Panah graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry ranked 2nd in his class, receiving multiple honors and awards as listed below. Among his experiences in dental school, he feels most proud to have served as founding president of the UW Student Professionalism and Ethics Association in Dentistry chapter, where he advocated for integrity and honesty to become the guiding principles of dental professionals.

He is a graduate of the MedStar Health – Georgetown University residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery, located in Washington, D.C. During this time, he was privileged to train at several prestigious institutions:

Dr. Panah served as chief resident during his final year of residency. He has lectured to residents and at other surgical forums on a variety of topics, and he enjoys providing education in dentistry.

Hobbies and Interests

Outside of the office, Dr. Panah loves spending time with his wife and chasing after his four children. At home, he’s known as a human jungle gym, tickle monster, swing pusher, and trash compactor—eating whatever food his children leave behind after dinner. He enjoys dancing with his wife in the kitchen and making up silly songs, rhymes, and dad jokes that keep his little clan laughing. Dr. Panah also enjoys boating, cooking, hiking, and playing tennis and golf. He is actively involved in his church and loves being part of the Grand Rapids community.
